classes are run by Ciara O’Reilly and are currently available in Newbridge and Carlow with new locations to be added soon. She will be running three workshops on the day of the fair at 10.30am/ 11.30am and 1.30pm!
Baby Sensory offers a complete approach to learning and sensory development from birth to 13 months and has been designed to stimulate, educate and provide precious memories during the all important first year of life. Every week, Ciara works her magic, transforming her venues into a baby wonderland of sensory exploration. Parents and their babies are encouraged to relax, have fun and share in the experience. Each activity has been carefully researched and designed to stimulatebaby’s senses.
This multi-award-winning class uses glowing balls, light shows, puppets, bubbles, petals, massage, signing and songs to stimulate baby’s imagination, which is a vital part of childhood. Ciara has a vastamount of equipment and songs – many unique to Baby Sensory, in her arsenal, ensuring that you will never experience the same lesson twice (unless of course you book in for another set of classes with your next baby!). Special attention is also given to the colours used during a particular session, with colours chosen because of their particular ability to evoke emotions or senses. Green and yellow, for instance, relate to happiness and tranquillity. (Green in particular having links to heartenergy, if that’s your thing!)
Created by Dr. Lin Day, every element of the Baby Sensory programme has been meticulouslydesigned with baby’s development in mind and aims to inspire and educate children, whilst also supporting their parents.
Ciara will share her knowledge of the progamme with you, regularly explaining, not only what you are doing, but also why. There are amazing advances in baby’s brain structure occur in the first three months of life. During this period, an astonishing 2 million new brain cell connections are formedevery second and by their first birthday, your baby’s brain will have doubled in volume as a directresult of sensory learning from birth.
An understanding of the how and why will really help to enhance, what is already an incredibly special time. You can join at any point, whenever you feel ready after birth. Because routine is important, every session is structured to follow the natural play-rest-play cycle of babies. Whats great about this is that each week you’ll have the opportunity to chat with others in a relaxed manner, which is brilliant for forging friendships as the weeks go on, sharing tips and experiences at a time when you’ll probably really appreciate the support.
As well as being a mum herself, Ciara has a BA in Early Childhood Education from Dublin Institute of Technology and has spent many years working with children, as well as working with adults within the disability services.
